About Me
As a photographer, visual artist and printmaker, controlling the image from the camera to the final presentation is of greatest importance.
Colors and textures have been a passion of mine since my first career as a textile designer. Combine that passion with the magical feeling of making something with your own hands, and you have the inspiration for what brings me to fine art printing, digital art and my studio, Presentations, etc. STUDIO in Homewood.
Black and White photography and dark room printing were my introduction to beautiful fiber-based papers, toning and hand tinting. My creative spirit came alive again as I spent hours in the dark room developing and printing black and white photographs. During this time I took almost every course offered in photography at UAB Special Studies.
Then came digital. This added a new and exciting technical dimension to photography and printing. I could now add color, layers and creative effects to photographs and print them on beautiful, cotton, textured, watercolor, metallic and all kinds of substrates. I have devoted all of my time for several years printing using pigment ink, archival and fine art papers (experimenting and learning) to achieve the highest quality in the ‘final presentation.’
The ‘Heirloom’ photographs, fine art prints and photo restorations offered by Presentations, etc. STUDIO represent the quality of materials and craftsmanship that I use in editing and printing your image. The fine art paper, together with pigment ink, creates a photograph or art work that will last for generations – one that surpasses the quality and permanence of the traditional ‘dark room’ prints.
After graduating from the University of Montevallo in Merchandising and Art, I had the opportunity to live in some wonderful places; Chicago, Princeton and Germany to name a few. Alabama was my home and is, again, my home. Actually, my studio in Homewood is where I spend most of my time. Teaching is my way of sharing and creating an environment to learn from each other
It is my wish to create something beautiful and lasting!
